This article concerns family violence and the penalties involved with it.
My opinion:
Although the man was charged with assault, I still think the charges could be more harsh for these kinds of crimes, especially when children are involved in the violence. This is not the first charge against this man for family violence he was given off the first time with minimal sentencing and parol and again charged later with stalking the same woman he assaulted in this situation. When someone has a reputation and continuous history of family violence, he clearly is a threat and needs to be incarcerated for longer periods of time than he has in the past. By longer periods of time I mean up to 5-10 years minimum, especially when this is not the first time this has happened. I think it is about time to begin cracking down on violent individuals that pose such a threat to women and children. I mean he did punch a 10 year old in the face, having younger siblings myself I feel a special connection to this case and it angers me that he will be out of prison any time sooner than the next decade.
