This article concerns:
San Antonio College receives a grant to fund childcare for their currently enrolled students. This assists these families in getting a degree to better their families without having to worry about childcare costs.
Importance/affect on families/individuals:
This is important to families and individuals because this grant is essentially providing the opportunity for these students to attend college classes. These students potentially could not further their education due to the fact that they may not have childcare or cannot afford it.
My input:
This grant is giving these families an opportunity to better their own lives as well as their children’s lives. This grant is to serve those in low income situations who are already receiving financial aid. I think that this is wonderful, because these parents might get criticized for not wanting to further their education or better their future and their families, but sometimes being a hard worker and good student isn't enough if you can’t afford childcare so that you can go to school. This grant is helping these parents continue their education without having to worry about the costs of childcare. Because the state is funding for these students to have cost free childcare, the students in turn will be able to get a better education, have a higher paying stable job, and some day be in a position to give back to the community.
