Pushing Surveillance

1.http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/27/us/politics/senators-push-to-preserve-nsa-phone-surveillance.html?_r=0

2. Passing Bill to encourage phone surveillance

3. National Level

4. A potential policy that is being considered

5. This article is important to families and individuals because it involves the phone conversations of every american be recorded and logged. The issue is to be discussed early next week, however the goal is to to a positive look into the eye of the public.

6.I do not like this policy at all, and do not see the need to spy on the American public. If the government want to put a positive spin on a heavily criticized topic then they need to speak that truth of their intentions of the program. When I say “Truth” I am referring to the whole truth. Their argument, which I feel is a rational one, is that 9/11 could have been prevented. However, I am sure there are other things that could have been done different to stop 9/11. Also using that holds no weight because even if the phone surveillance program was up and running 9/11 still could have possibly happen. You cant undo past event so the reference i fill is something they are using to get people behind this surveillance policy. Also if it is simply for the benefit of the American people why was it a secret? Why is Snowden highly sought to be arrested b the United States? The purpose of this policy is not coming full circle and I feel there is more to it. The NSA claims that the phone call will be stored and deleted after a period of time, but who will be the one to watch and make sure this is done correctly. I just feel this policy cannot be trusted. The federal government constantly is trying to monitor and figure out what citizen’s are doing, but who is watching the federal government and making sure the following the rules they have made themselves.
