-How this is Important: The job creations from the City of Austin for the past few years has put them in a situation where they need to higher an additional 376 employees resulting in higher tax rates and utility fees. This article also highlights the extensive executive positions that have increased the budget for salaries for the City of Austin employees.
-My Views: This article sheds light on the lack of support the actual workers of Austin are doing. They have given so many executive positions that do not have enough people to actually be doing the work. With the new hires that the City of Austin will be doing they are going to have to have an increased budget and to get an increased budget that means higher taxes for property tax and higher utility bills. On average that means an additional $173 a year per household for city taxes and fees. Austin has one of the highest ratios of executives to non-supervisory workers. This impact on the budget is executive positions have high salaries and the lower salary workers there are less of to serve the City of Austin. The article lays out a lot of the excessive hires for the executive positions having multiple people doing the same job that does not require that many people. Since 2004 there is a 42% increase in executive postions and only a 10% increase in non-supervisor positions. Who do these executives tell what to do?!
