New Farm Bill

1. Farm bill

2. Category of problem: Consumer/financial

3. Level of problem: national

4. A potential policy that is being considered to help a problem/issue that individuals/ families face

5. If a new farm bill does get passed with revisions, it could mean that big cut for families/ individuals that are food stamps or in nutrition programs.

6. The proposed revisions to the Farm Bill could mean big trouble for families and individuals that are on the food stamp program and or any nutrition program that the government funds because over 10 years the farm bill would cut another $23 million dollars from the programs. Besides the $40 billion dollars that was just cut from the food stamped program recently, the government wants to cut almost another third of the budget. This is crazy!!!!! You tell me how one person is suppose to live on 70 cents a meal while getting an adequate nutrition? I for one, know that I wouldn't be able to. What about a family of 4 or more? Government officials should ask themselves these questions before coming up this these outlandish government propositions for these drastic cuts. People are going on to food stamps more tan ever because let's face it our economy, isn't all that great right now due to the war efforts and paying for government officials meals. I wish the government would come up with a allocation system for tax payers so that the tax payer could send their tax money to the areas of the government where they seem fit or that is important to them and not to the top dogs to make the decision. Maybe we could finally make a dent in the hunger issue that way, I know that my idea will probably never come true but its worth a shot. We need to become more aware as Americans about what our government is doing with our tax dollars because if 23 million dollars is being cut from the bill on top of the 40 billion dollars where is all that money going to?
