Lawsuit filed to block Texas abortion law

1.      http://www.statesman.com/news/news/lawsuit-filed-to-block-texas-abortion-law/nZ8rt/
2.      Category: Abortion
3.      Level: State
4.      Concerns: An “enacted” policy that has been passed to help with a problem/issue that individuals/families face
5.      Importance on families/individuals: The issue affects women in our community who receive services from these clinics. The law places restrictions on regulations of abortion-inducing drugs and also requires doctors to gain privileges from hospitals.
6.      My input: I am pro-choice so I agree with the lawsuit that these women’s health organizations and abortion-rights groups are filing against the new law known as House Bill 2. I feel that stricter restrictions are going to affect women in Texas who need services from these clinics because clinics face more of a possibility of being shut down because of the stricter laws and regulations. Some clinics have already closed because of this law. If more and more clinics are being shut down it makes it much more difficult for women in the state to get the reproductive health care services they need. Women especially in poor or rural areas will have even less access to these clinics then before and because I am pro-choice I think that women in our state should have access to clinics who provide these services, especially because I feel as though every women in Texas should have the right to choose. If this lawsuit can stop some of the damage being done to women and their families in our state because of this abortion law then that is a huge benefit of the lawsuit being filed by these organizations.
