3. Level of Problem: National
4. The article concerns:
-Families/ Individuals who depend on food stamps
-Families/ Individuals who depend on food stamps
5. Why is this important to individuals/families OR How does it affect individuals/families?
-The government is making a 40 billion dollar cut from the food stamp program over the next 10 years. There are several families who are living in poverty who heavily depend on food stamps and this could be a hard hit for some who are barely making it by.
6. What are your views on the issue/problem?
-Considering that the food stamp program already needs some help, these cuts are going to affect a lot of individuals and families lives. They are also doing several things that would make being eligible more difficult. Some of these regulations can be beneficial to the people who really need the support, like requiring food stamp recipients to be drug tested and stopping lottery winners from receiving benefits. Regardless of the benefits the restrictions might bring, the positives are not outweighing the negatives that come with this cost cut. I strongly think that the food stamp program needs to be completely reformed with realistic standards to be eligible to receive aid.
