San Antonio Express News October 18th 2013

Category: Walmart employee stepping in and stopping a fight in the parking lot

Level: National (Walmart policy)

Concerning: Walmart employees and their ability to help in times of trouble in their parking lots.

How does this affect families or individuals?
Walmarts policy of not allowing employees to help pedestrians in their own parking lot plays a huge role with families and especially individuals.  In this case a women was being mistreated and for them to say it was wrong of the employee to step in and help is very selfish of the establishment.  There should never be penalties to protect an innocent person from harm.

My opinion on the subject:
I can see why the policy was put into effect, Walmart wants to stay out of as many law suits as possible.  But on that note, I think it is very irresponsible and  says a lot about the character of the policy makers that they would fire someone who was simply doing the right thing by helping that woman out.  If anything he should be praised rather than fired which is simply outrageous.  No matter the policy, it is our responsibility to help out in times of need when someone cannot protect themselves, American military even believes in that so I don't see why Walmart can't understand!!
