This is a potential policy that is being considered to help
a problem/issue that individuals/families face.
How does this affect individuals/families? This program will
save customers money over time and help reduce waste in surrounding landfills.
My view on this policy: I would really utilize both the new
programs. I live in a home in San Marcos and I am guilty of putting yard waste
into my trash can as well as my trash can overflowing. My neighborhood HOA is
very strict about how our yard is maintained therefore it is convenient for me
after I pull weeds, to put them in my trash bin. I did not realize that it is harmful to put into other bins but it makes sense. As long as the pricing does
not increase beyond the additional $3, I would benefit from a third trash bin
as well as a bigger waste bin. My trash bill is already high for a resident in
San Marcos, so hopefully these new programs would equal out the cost I am
already paying. These programs are also going to be optional for residents
instead of mandatory. I agree that it should be that way. I do recycle but my
bill is really high for something that I don’t do a lot of. Having a trial run for
a year is also a smart idea to see how many people actually participate.
Hopefully society is influential and more residents become involved in recycling
and using appropriate waste bins.
