It is my decision.

2. Category of problem: Abortion
3. Level of problem: State level
4. The article concerns: Regulations on abortion in the state of Texas are being challenged to make sure the women of Texas have clinics to go to--if needed.
5. Why is this important to individuals/families OR how does it affect individuals/families?
--On October 29th, provisions concerning abortions and abortion clinics will go into effect. This effects women in a huge way because with these provisions will come shutdowns of abortion clinics. Women will not be allowed to exercise their right to an abortion.
6. What are your views on the problem/issue?
--I want politics and political representatives to get out of my and other women's personal business. What I and others choose to do in the situation of an unplanned pregnancy is our and the fathers decision and no one else. I am pro-choice. America is known as the land in which people have the freedom to do what they want. What is having more freedom, than the ability to make my own decisions. In order to get into the position of having an unplanned pregnancy, the original choice to have sexual intercourse must occur. That is a major and personal experience that no one other then my chosen partner and I should have to deal with.
"One [provision] requires abortion doctors to gain admitting privileges in a hospital within 30 miles of the clinic, and the other [provision] beefs up regulations on the dispensing of abortion-inducing drugs." These provisions are being disguised as good instead of what they really are, which is evil. The regulations are really in place to limit the amount of abortions that will be able to be performed in Texas, along with the shutdown of many Texas abortion clinics. Little by little abortion clinics will be bombarded with more and more regulations. I am glad that there are political representatives that still want the choice to be ours, if we want it.
The debate over abortion in this country, especially in the state of Texas, should not be pushed by religious beliefs. Every one is different in this country, the way we were brought up, the religion that we practice, and the values that we have collected. All I want to say to the government on the topic of abortion is, pro-choice or pro-life, it is me who would have to go through the pain of abortion or child birth. It is my decision.
