- Category: Abortion
- Level: State
- Concerns: A potential policy that is being considered to help with a problem/issue that individuals/families face
- Importance on families/individuals: This issue affects many individuals in our state because clinics will be shutting down shortly and women in the area will no longer have access to the services these clinics provide.
- My input: I am not in favor of the new abortion regulations because I think they are making it more difficult for these clinics to stay open and provide all the services women should be entitled to. After next week, these new regulations will force several clinics to either shut down or reduce the services they provide. These clinics are having to get admitting privileges from surrounding hospitals before a certain date and when they try to get in touch with these hospitals it is taking too long for a response, therefore shutting down the clinics. They are not allowed to hire doctors that already have privileges and it is hard to recruit new doctors because they are scared of the retaliation that abortion can bring by protesters.
This is a blog for Texas State students taking FCS 4347 (Family Policy) to be able to post their weekly reading assignment (3 newspaper articles about issues or policies that effect individuals and families) and to write their reactions, opinions and implications of the articles
