Concerning: A policy enacted affecting families and
individuals
This is important because it brings justice to immigrants
being treated poorly because they are not citizens.
My Views: I think
that what was done to this woman was so morally corrupt. Even though she is
living here illegally, she is not a criminal. The conditions in which were
ruled upon I think is very fair considering everything she went through. I
think that it is a tough decision when she was pulled over and didn’t have the
correct documentation because even citizens driving without their proper
identifications will be arrested (depending on the cop). The fact that she had
to go through such a turmoil giving birth while being shackled is heartbreaking.
I would like to know if any repercussions happened towards that sheriff’s
department that has caused all of this. Yes they were following “protocol” but
sometimes good moral judgments need to outweigh the law. I think that this case
will allow other immigrants to come forward with their cases of cruelty and not
be scared to be deported. This is a wakeup call for everyone across the nation
that even though they are living here illegally, most are not criminals and
should not be treated like ones especially in grueling circumstances.
