E-cigarettes Also Banned

  E-cigarettes Also Banned
Article #1 Week 7

2.      Category* of Problem/Issue identified in article: Health/ Environment
3.      Level of problem/issue: Local
4.      This is about an enacted ordinance that has been passed to help with the issue of smoking in public places banning the use of cigarettes and e-cigarettes.

5.      This is extremely important to individuals in San Marcos because public smoking including e-cigarettes it’s a big cause for many health concerns. Second hand smoking is a major problem because it can lead to many diseases such as heart diseases and lung cancer and also contribute to promoting this bad habit among the community.

6.      I think this new passed amendment banning the use of e-cigarettes also is really beneficial to our community. The use of e-cigarettes is also for me a way to harm our health because it also contains nicotine and other chemicals that we don’t yet know how much it’s prejudicial to our health because it is a new product that need to be more studied. Even though I think banning all type of smoking is beneficial to our community because it give us clean air and also less possibility to promote this really bad habit among the other people around those smokers such as children. I’m not agreeing with the person that says in the article that e-cigarettes should not be banned because “they are not harmful to the people around you” because the FDA also found some carcinogenic agents that may harm an individual’s health. Public smoking is harmful for our community for many different reasons and any form of smoking including an electronic device simulating a cigarette and containing nicotine and chemical substances should be banned. If someone want to smoke they can do this when they are not with other people that can be affected from their decision.
