5. Importance: Electric cars are a good way to improve people's impact on CO2 emissions.
6. Due to a lack of sales of electric cars in the US, some states are pushing to enforce mandates for recharging stations and implementing building codes making recharging access mandatory in multi-family residential buildings. I mentioned in another blog last week about how people have a tendency to resist change and that it could be one of the biggest issues when it comes to increasing sales of electric cars. I think eventually, they will become the most common type of commuter vehicle, but with the fuel source being such drastic change from what is currently available, it is expected that there will be some transitional issues. Right now it is just easier to leave everything as is. I think a move like this is beneficial in the long run, even though, no doubt people and business will be opposed to the changes. I also like some of the other ways that states are encouraging the use of electric cars by charging 'off-peak' prices for recharging, preferential parking, reduced tolls, and carpool lane access. Even though some may find it a bit unfair, I think doing things for the good of our environment is a little bit more important than simply giving into what people view as being convenient.
