TXST under budget with spending

Level: Local

Category: University Funding

Concerning: A Potential Policy effecting families and individuals

This is important because however these funds will be dispersed will effects everyone at Texas State somehow.

My Views:  Learning that Texas State will potentially have a budget surplus is great news! Always hearing about how much the government is struggling with debt, it is nice to hear that a community that you are a part of is thriving. Now for the ways they might plan on spending the money is debatable. If I were to choose out of the options that they have spoken about in this article, I would definitely vote for bonuses  for teachers that deserve it. For me personally, I would like to see more parking structures. We built a huge pay for parking garage which a pass everyday on the bus and is basically empty.  I am graduating in like a month so it doesn’t really concern me all that much but for them to say that we are going to have even more students come to the school, we already have full parking lots, and unsafe buses that are packed to the brim at peak hours. That is just my opinion but I do see the need to for money to be spent on current teachers and potentially new hires. Another idea would be to allow students who work on campus to make more than minimum wage. Although there are plenty of ways the money can be spent, I am sure it will be spent wisely and appropriately.
