4.State whether the article is concerning one of the following: A problem/issue that individuals/families face
5.Why
this is
important to individuals/families? This is important to individuals and
families because amusement park injuries caused from malfunctioning rides occur every year. The safety of those involved in critical to the individuals and families.
The older I get the more skeptical of carnival and
amusement park rides I seem to get. This story is one of my biggest fears come
true. Every time I step foot on a roller coaster or park ride I can't help but
think of all of the horrible scenarios that I could be getting myself into. I'm
honestly surprised that they opened this ride back up to the public in the days
to come. I know if I were a customer or the parent of a child I would stay as
far away from this ride as possible. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to chance or
enjoy the ride, the only thing I’d be able to think about is the horrific chaos
of people flying off. Even though I’m sure the malfunctions have been pin
pointed and addressed, I still wouldn’t want to put myself or anyone I know at
risk. I feel horrible for the operator of the ride because I’m sure he/she is
harboring significant guilt for the malfunction even though it was out of their
control. I don’t know much about carnival rides but I think in order to prevent
something like this from happening a backup for the safety switch should have
to be required or at least something to ensure that passengers can exit or load
the ride safely if the initial safety mechanism isn’t working properly. Regardless
I think that the safety requirements for carnival rides should be heightened. I
think there are too many questionable carnival rides that people are putting
their trust in.
