 6.   What are your views on the issue/policy?

The government shutdown was something I didn't know was possible before it happened at the beginning of this month. I never imagined that the government could just decide that they were going to be put on a standstill until an agreement was made between parties. I still hold a strong opinion that this was a childish decision and they could have found another solution to prevent from such drastic measures. The reopening of the government didn't just magically make everything better. Now we are paying for the shutdown and many economies are struggling to return to where they were earlier this month. I think it is sad that the public is paying for something they had no control over. Many people are short paychecks and were not prepared for a situation like this. National parks are now suffering from the vandalism from many angry people unhappy with their closures for the last two and a half weeks. That isn’t fair to the park rangers and workers that they are being left with a mess to clean up that they had no say in and could not prevent. That is just one specific case that shows the horrible impact the government shut down has had on our nation. I hope that something like this never happens again and they find a more adult way to handle disagreements within the house, because ultimately it isn’t the congressmen who have to deal with the consequences of a shutdown, it is mainly the public and governmental workers not being paid for their services.
