Obama: priorities after shutdown's end

Obama: Budget, immigration reform next priorities after shutdown's end

Category of problem: Economic crisis

Level of problem: National

How does this affect individuals/families? This affects millions who are affected by the government and the new bills being implemented.

My views on the issue/policy: Obama is now focused on bills that should have been passed a long time ago. It’s almost like the shutdown gave him a second chance to start over and discuss what American’s need. He wants to focus on investing in education and infrastructure which honestly is the number one issue that should have taken place back when he first took office. The U.S. is ranked very low on the educational level compared to the other countries. He also wants to cut unnecessary spending when it’s the government who is spending billions and is keeping the U.S. trillions of dollars in debt. The shutdown cost the U.S. 24 billion dollars and we are 17 trillion in debt and counting as I type. Then he wants to work on a $500 billion dollar overdue Farm Bill, a year overdue. Senate and House are ‘hoping’ to meet soon to discuss it. He wants to lower deficits yet the nation’s debt ceiling just drastically increased and caused almost one million workers their job security. We should have had a lower ceiling and started paying off our maxed out credit cards.
