Week 8 Article 3

1.    Morris, M. (2013 October, 21). Parker ads swing negative. The Houston Chronicle. Retrieved from http://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/politics/houston/article/Parker-ads-swing-negative-4914774.php#/0
2.    Category of Problem: Campaign ads
3.    Level of Problem: Local
4.    This article concerns: Mayor Annise Parker’s campaign ads for the Houston Mayor election swing negative at her opponent.
5.    Importance/affect on families/individuals: This affects the opponent of Annise Parker and his family because his name and reputation are being put out there in a negative way.

6.    My concerns: I think that the candidates should be focusing on what they have to offer the Houston people rather than bad mouthing each other. I am sure that it is not just Annise Parker that has a hand in her campaign ads that go out. There is always someone that is behind the scene telling her what should be put out. Also greed plays a big role in this as well. Everybody wants to get a head, but some will try and get a head at others expense. Let’s face it the public reacts to the negative things more so than the positive. It’s sad and says a lot about our society as a whole. We need good examples before us so that we can follow in their god footsteps.
