2. Health care reform being embraced in California
3. State Level
4.A potential policy that is being consider that could affect individuals and families.
5.California makes of 15% of the population of people without health care insurance. However, it is the nation's largest state run exchange and has expanded Medicaid to the coverage for the poor.
6.I think California is the best to state to use as a “guinea
pig” to see if the health care reform act will actually work. Though the actual
number of people that have try to sign up through the Health.gov website is unknown,
it is know that majority of the people attempting to sign on are from
California. Even though that numbers aren’t exact it is very apparent that many
people are seeking health care and California being such a majority of the
population I feel it speaks volumes. In the new I keep hearing Republican officials
say the American people do not want health reform but what American people are
they referring too. Also to add insult to injury even members of their own
political party went ahead and voted for the affordable health care act.
California is also investing 94 million into their health by building clinics, community
groups, and labor unions to help people sign of for the health care. If a state
is willing to back the federal government in such a major way there must be
some actual financial benefit to do so. This type of action could benefit California
financially, because prevention is cheaper than intervention, thus saving the
state millions of dollars. Though this is speculation on my part one would have
to think that is the case for a state, though democratic, to completely agree on
all level with a doubtful health reform that has received so much scrutiny by
the media.
