2.    Category of problem: Education

3.    Level of problem/issue: state

4.    This article concerns: A potential policy that is being considered to help a problem/issue that individuals/families face

5.     Importance/affect on families/individuals: This could affect students and teacher in the school system in Texas because if Texas doesn’t get a waiver to not tie teacher evaluations to student achievement scores on standardized test in reading and math, all the teachers are going to do is be forces on teaching to the test and nothing more than that.

6.    My input: I don’t think that Texas teachers evaluations should be tied to the students achievement scores on standardized tests in reading and math because if they are the teachers are only going to be worried about teaching the students what is on the test and nothing more than that. I believe there is so much more to teach student then just the material that is on standardized tests. Also, some students don’t take test very good and it would put even more pressure on the student during the test. If Texas were to tie student’s achievement scores to teacher’s evaluation, how would they do this with the teachers that teach the younger grades because you can’t except a kindergarten or first grader to be able to take a standardized test.
