reopen just yet

Category of problem: Education
Level of problem: State
This is an enacted policy that has been passed to help with
a problem that individuals/families face. This policy has postponed secondary
education at Dallas Charter schools and its two affiliates until each employee
has passed a criminal background check.
Why this is important or how does this affect
individuals/families? This affects children by not allowing them to go to
school therefore creating stress on the parents about what to do with their children
during the day and possibly changing schools altogether.
My views: In order for me as a parent to feel safe and
comfortable about my child attending school, I would want every employee to
have taken and passed an overall background check. I feel this should have been
done before school started and it is lack of responsibility on their part when
employees were hired. Also to even have this as an issue would make me have
reservations about the facility and how it was run. The academy is also under
financial investigation leading me to believe that the incoming money was not
spent appropriately or may be going into employee’s pockets. It is not fair for
the students or the parents to be in this predicament. Once the official school
date starts, students should be guaranteed a place to be educated every day.
Now parents are struggling with what to ultimately do with their children. Not
only was the Dallas academy closed until further notice but so were Oak Cliff
and Houston due to a data entry error. This “error” is creating a world of
problems for this charter school.
I agree with Amanda because no parent want their child to go to a school where supposedly the employees that will be working with your child background check is clear but there is an error in the information which is not report correctly. As a parent will take my child out of the school and enroll them in new school where I know they will be safe and they can start school as well.
