2.    Category of problem: Safety at Texas Public Schools

3.    Level of problem: State

4.    This article concerns: A  potential policy that is being considered to help a problem/issue that individuals/families face

5.    Importance/affect on families/individuals: If this law were to pass it would have a huge affect on the families, individuals’ students and teacher around the state of Texas. Trying to determine who should be allowed to carry a gun on any school campus and how many faculty members per student should be allow, is a big deal.

6.    My input: This one is hard on for me because I don’t believe that guns kill people but people kill people. Maybe instead of having teacher allowed to carry guns on campus there should be more cops of each campus because what is a teacher going to really do if a student starts shooting in the hallway while he/she is in their classroom teaching. By the time the one teacher on campus, who is allowed to have a gun finds out about the situation it might still be too late. So instead maybe the state could find the funds to have police officers to work at the schools and to walk the hall during classes and between classes. Also, no matter how much training a teacher has it is still not hundred percent safe for there to be a gun in a classroom filled with students. The teacher would have to hide the gun in a safe place that no one knew where it was or could get to it besides them, so if a shooter were to come in the classroom it would not necessary help the situation because by the time the teacher would be able to get to his/her gun it might me too late.
