Rats in your spices

Imported spices a source of contamination, FDA says

Category: Food

Level: National

Concerning: This article concerns a problem families and individuals face.

Why this is important/how do these affect individuals/families? This article is about the contamination of spices and it is close to 12% of imported spices are contaminated with rat hair and feces. This affects everyone who uses any kind of spice that isn’t grown in the United States.

My Views: Being nutrition major and cooking meals daily that use spices imported and not available in the United States, this is quite scary and disgusting to think that I might be digesting any kind of disease. This needs to be regulated better in the sense of any shipment coming in needs to be tested and approved. Obviously some changes need to happen in the FDA circle to have more workers checking on these kinds of products coming in to the United States. More money needs to go towards our health and well-being and taken from non-essential areas.
