Concerning: A policy that affects families and individuals
This is important because it will affect peoples privacy in their everyday lives
My Views:
Personally,
I do not know why the National Security Agency has any business in
peoples private lives, at all. The fact that congress is approving the
NSA to snoop through American citizens telephone records, and record
calls is egregious. If it wasn't for Edward Snowden whistleblowing about
the NSA actively listening in on American citizens a couple months ago,
who knows if we would even know at all or if they would have just keep
on doing it in secret. The justification for the approval is that
because of the Patriot Act enacted after September 11, 2001, and that
our government needs to listen to everyone's phone calls in order to
stop or handle possible terrorist threats or attacks. I thought that the
reason why the NSA was created was for that singular purpose, for them
to watch other foreign nations closely and safeguard the American
publics security and privacy, not breach our privacy themselves?
