Food stamp reductions
Austin American-Statesman
Category: Government assistance
Level: National
This article is concerning an enacted policy that impacts families and individuals.
Importance: The families who are receiving SNAP are now seeing cuts to their funds which could negatively impact their ability to provide nutrition for themselves and their children.
My views:
Some may see the cuts to their funds as drastic or troublesome. Some may think the decrease is really not that much and may not affect the grocery bill very much. Whatever your opinion, these cuts always affect someone. The graph in the article shows the decreases for each family category including a single person household. In my opinion, the cuts to the single person household would not significantly affect their ability to provide food for themselves. The most impactful cut would be to the four-person family who are most likely feeding growing children with high nutritional demands.
