Andrew Walsh San Antonio Express News November 1st, 2013

Level of problem: National/state

Category: Death row execution

Who does this affect: Anyone awaiting death row in prison as well as tax payers who have to pay an outrageous amount of money to have these people die in a "civil" way.

How does this effect families or individuals?
This effects individuals because we pay a huge amount for each person to be executed.

 My opinion on the article:
The article is about a man who raped and murdered his girlfriends daughter which is one of the worst things I think I have ever in my life heard, and he wants the execution date to be pushed back because the doctor cannot find his vein to be lethally injected.  In circumstances like this I just wish we could go back to simpler ways of doing things such as hangings or shootings.  Capital punishment in the United States is a bit of a rarity compared to other countries, my group project actually goes much further in detail about the comparisons.  So when someone is being executed it is almost always because they have brutally murdered one or more people.  In my opinion I just do not think we need to be spending upwards of 100k to execute someone when there are other ways of killing them without any pain.  I never liked the idea of the electric chair as that can cause much pain before they die, I am in no way for that.  But I do believe capital punishment to be necessary in situations like this, I just wish we didn't have to be so picky about the way these brutal criminals have to die in such as civil manner.
