Ted Cruz says Obama’s trip to Texas brings “nothing with it
but broken promises”
Category of problem: Economy/Health
Level of problem: State
This is an enacted policy that has been passed to help with
a problem/issue that individuals/families face.
How does this affect individuals/families? Everyone in the
U.S. is going to be required to have health insurance or thus be fined
beginning next year. This affects everyone regardless if they have insurance or
not, some premiums will go up, some will remain the same. Texas is hoping to
repeal this act.
My views on the issue/policy: This is a very controversial
topic these days. Luckily, my family has health insurance so we don’t have to
worry so much about what will happen starting spring 2014. I do feel Obama has
made many promises since his term began and has failed to follow through with
them but so did every other president. For those living without health
insurance, this leaves a good opportunity for them to at least be covered.
Texas, of course, is a heavily Republican state that probably won’t agree with
any Democrat regardless of what they try to implement. According to Cruz, Obama
has promised that premiums will go down, more jobs will be created, and
American’s will be taken care of. Even though this may not have taken place
yet, Texas can do something about that itself. We don’t need the U.S.
government to baby us with our state government issues. Broken promises or not,
not everyone is going to agree with policies made.
