Why it is important: Airlines will progressively allow cell phone and device use during flights. This shows that airlines are improving the barriers of cellular data interference.
My views: I am excited about this change. Although i do not fly often when i do i love to be on my phone or a tablet. Reading, listening to music, or playing games. It passes time and you can be productive at the same time. Texting and calling will be prohibited because there is not cellular connection that high in the sky and traveling at high speeds it would be hard to keep up with the cellular towers below. That will be another issue to overcome at another time. But with FAA overcoming the device use is a big step for airlines. Some airlines are putting this into place immediately and working on a way to have it happen within their planes. Most people are already using their devices at the wrong time on planes, it is now allowed and stops the issue with them having to turn it off. It is soooo easy to turn off your cell phone though while flying and at the appropriate times I dont understand why people have such a hard time with it, bur they do and now they wont have to worry about it much longer!
I think this is so neat to be able to use your cell phones during a plane ride. I frequently travel to visit my father who lives in Florida so I will be one of the people who will be affected by it. Last time I traveled I had this rude man turn and look at me using my phone. This enraged him because we were told to stop using our phones and he said "Are you just so important that you have to be on your phone all the time". I was texting my dad to tell him that as dying so I was telling him where I would meet him. This enraged me and I got into an actual fight with him in front of everyone. I think its important for people to use their phone in order to contact the person picking them up or let people know they are ok. With all the recent terrorist attacks I believe that phones are an important means of communicating. It also would give the passengers something to do while they are flying.
