Category: Poverty in the US... Texas

Level: Local and State

Who: Families and Individuals

Why: Being the Nation's poorest community this reflects the government and local politicians to put in place helping means to improve the poverty.

My Views: This being a town in Texas and so close to home with so much poverty is scary. I think this should be a huge wake up call for Texas and other local government officials because before it was Brownsville, it was the city over, McAllen. Brownsville has a poverty percentage of 36 compared to Texas's average of 17%. There are things going in place to help this poverty line, and that is increases the colleges located in the area and offering more as schools. Hopefully there will be jobs to offer to raise this poverty line. Also with the space stations coming into place in the South Texas area this is a chance to build jobs for the local and bring in many new residents.
