This article concerns policies that have far reaching effects to families plagued by mental illness

My views:
Mental illness is a huge problem that has extremely far reaching consequences that have barely been addressed by the American government until recently. Mass-shootings, murder, suicide and assaults can often be contributed to people who are suffering from some sort of untreated mental illness. Not all cases of violence and murder can be attributed to mental problems, but a large number. The government actually acknowledging this scientific fact and proposing healthcare policy change in order to facilitate treatment of these diseases is a huge step in the right direction for this country. Not only is it predicted that this policy will decrease the number of mass murders and shootings, but it will definitely help the men and women serving our country that encounter mental problems from War, like PTSD. Insurance companies will be required to cover mental illness treatment without having it cost more or discriminate against people who ask for it. Also, even better, people with substance abuse problems and addictions will get medical coverage. This initiative is extremely good because most people will mental problems have problems getting or finding jobs because of the illness, and so they do not normally have the money required for private mental treatment.
