2. Category of problem: Dr. Murray trying to reinstate medical
license in Texas
3. Level of problem: State
4. This article concerns: A problem/issue that
individuals/families face
5. Importance/affect on
families/individuals: The importance of this on families/individuals is that
someone in Texas could be going to a doctor that has had his medical license taken
away once in another state
6. My input: The California state medical board has already
prematurely revoked Dr. Murray’s medical license so now he is coming to Texas
to get it reinstated. Texas feels that the laws in California don’t matter and
are willing to give Dr. Murray another chance. I am going to have to agree with
the Texas medical board on this one for two reasons. One reason being that even
know Dr. Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and it was a high
profile case, I just feel like there is so much more to this case that we the
people don’t know about especially since it involved Michael Jackson. I
honestly think if Dr. Murray’s case didn’t involve someone famous that it would
have never gone as far as it did. My next reason is just because the California
state medical board and a jury found him guilty doesn’t mean that Texas would
have done the same thing and also Dr. Murray doesn’t have a record of harming
people that was in isolated case that just happen to become a high profile case
because of whom it involved. It sounds to me that Dr. Murray has patients
waiting for him in Texas to come back to work, with that being said I think
Texas should go ahead and reinstate is medical license but maybe keep a close
eye on him for the first two years he is back in practice.
