First photo ID required election

Week # 10 Article # 2

1.         Farzad Mashhood (2013, November 6) Most polls close in Texas’ first photo ID-required election. Austin American Statesman

2.         Category of problem: Valid Texas’ ID’s required to vote this year

3.         Level of problem: State

4.         This article concerns: An “enacted” policy that has been passed to help with a problem /issue that individuals/families face.

5.         Importance/affect on families/individuals: This affects families/individuals because no long will a person that doesn’t pay taxes or a person that is here illegal will be allow to vote in the state of Texas.

6.         My input: I think this is one of the best policy the government could have ever put in place. I don’t think that if you are a person that doesn’t pay taxes or a person that is here illegal that you should be allow to vote. I think voting should be for the legal people that live in the state of Texas and for the people that pay their taxes and only them. I just feel that if there is s policy that is going to help the more needing, that that is the policy the illegal people are going to vote for even if they do or don’t fully understand it or even if they do or don’t fully agree with it because in some small way it might or is going to benefit them. Some people might think this is going make less people come out and vote but if you have a valid Texas’ ID which you should if you are here legally than I don’t really seeing this new policy affect the number of people that come out and vote already out of those that are here legally and that pay taxes. Yes, do I think that there are going to be a lower number of people that come out to vote because of this new policy but only because the policy is weeding out the people that don’t pay taxes and the people that are here illegal.
