5. My views:
In the modern society that we live in, it is amazing to me that equal rights for all have not already passed through the federal legislatures and legislature of every state already.  This bill passed by an amazing majority vote from both political parties in the Senate, which is extremely rare. The fact that even republican senators voted for this bill is indicative of more and more acceptance of complete LGBT population equality. Hopefully, this huge milestone in government can show and influence other people throughout America to accept these new ideals and not discriminate against anyone in the workplace or in general life. With gay marriages being legalized in state after state, it seems only natural that with legality of marriage comes legality in every other sense like basic rights and benefits that straight American citizens get. Maybe the Speaker of the House will take into consideration all of this progress and will support this bill in order for it to be passed through the House of Representatives.
