Electronic devices to be allowed on planes
Austin American-Statesman
Category: FAA
Level: National
This article is concerning an enacted policy that affects families and individuals.
Importance: toddlers and children in flight can now happily watch movies from take off to landing which will in turn appease the adults who get annoyed with them.
My views: I am personally excited about this rule change and I hope it is in effect on Southwest planes when I take my next flight. I have never understood the rules about electronics during take off and descent and have frequently ignored that rule. People can now read their Kindles and watch movies on their iPads without the interruption of turning them off. Keeping children entertained on flights while also keeping them quiet can be very difficult and when they get a little rowdy, adults on the plane get a little annoyed. Allowing them to have access to games or movies for the entire flight is going to be the most effective way to keep the peace on the plane. I have no doubt that everyone is excited about this rule change.

I do agree. We pay so much to fly somewhere and we aren't able to use our devices. that doesn't make any sense. Then some people have to sit for long hours doing nothing or paying a high fee to be able to use these services. Airlines are already making enough money with baggage fees, tickets, cancellation fees and much more. Why can we not get on a plan an enjoy something for free just like in mcdonalds. I don't understand why we have to pay so much for something on airlines that can be found elsewhere for free. I also agree with keeping the peace. People get ansy and are ready to get off the plane. People start getting up and take multiple trips to the bathroom just to find something to do. Media usage on planes should not be a status issue. It should be available (at no cost) to everyone who has paid to board that plane.
