Category of problem: Sex offenders in parks

Level of problem: Local (San Antonio)

This article concerns: no registered sex offenders allowed in city parks.

Affects families:
"Child Safety zones" around all the cities parks.  No registered sex offender could legally step within 1000 feet of a park.  Carlton Soules (City councilman) is trying to pass this law right now in San Antonio.  There would be some stigmas such as sex offenders already living within 1000 feet of a park would not be forced to move, but not allowed in the parks directly.

My opinion on the subject:
I am most definitely all in for this to pass by councilman Soules.  I am slightly surprised this has not been set into effect already on a state level if not a national level.  There is literally no reason for a registered sex offender to be in parks with children.  Unfortunately there are some cases where these "registered sex offenders" are not really what we think they are.  For instance public urination by a school or park will get you put on that list and not all of those people have any sort of bad intentions.  Putting that aside, I still believe it is in the public's best interest to avoid these offenders around children.  From a family standpoint if I had children I would especially be in full support for this law to pass.
