5. Importance/affect on individuals/families: It is a growing problem amongst the elderly and mentally impaired individuals to be victimized by con artists.
6. Personal view: Just reading this article really upsets me. I don't understand how people can be so cruel and take advantage of mentally impaired individuals and the elderly. It is a growing problem that continues to exist. Protection and laws should be set in place to protect this category of people. It would be difficult to regulate, but something needs to be done to protect these innocent people. Perhaps banks should more closely monitor the financial activity (purchases and transactions) and look for highly unusual spending. Also, those who do do such harm to these individual should definitely pay the price.
