My View: I still am in shock about the entire government shutdown situation. I feel like the result of republicans and democrats unable to come to an agreement is childish. Although I wish there was just one easy way out of this mess there isn't, so i feel like we have to resort to plan b instead of just waiting everything out. If the government refuses to pay for parks to remain open, and essential governmental programs to continue running, then I think temporary measures have to be taken. I think the most important programs that different states should focus on temporarily funding are the ones that involve WIC and Headstart and programs that families and children rely on every day. Although I do think that state parks are an important factor when it comes to economic reliance and profit for many states, and obviously for many national park workers, I think that being able to provide formula for your newborn is more vital and should be funded first. In my opinion, I think that states should be allowed to reopen their parks if they are able to find a way to afford to pay their workers, otherwise our economy is just going to worsen. The scary part about the government shut down is that if states do decide to pay for these programs and parks to continue operating, they will eventually (and probably sooner rather than later) run out of money to fund these things. Once the states run out of money they are really left with no other options and a lot of people are going to be put in really bad situations until the government comes to an agreement. Until then, I think states should step in and use what money they do have to help prevent their economy from taking a turn for the worse.
