Week 6 Article 1

1.    George, C. (2013 October, 3). Shutdown could delay November food stamps. The Houston Chronicle. Retrieved from  http://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/politics/houston/article/Shutdown-could-delay-November-food-stamps-4864726.php?cmpid=btfpm
2.    Category of Problem: Government shutdown
3.    Level of Problem: National
4.    Article concerns: Running out of funds for government programs such as food stamps.
5.    Why it is important to families/individuals: This highly affects families and individuals who need the government’s assistance for food stamps. Depending on how long this shutdown last it could mean that people who depend on food stamps may find themselves receiving even less money or no money at all.

6.    My concerns: With neither the Republicans nor the Democrats willing to compromise the government shutdown could last for a while. This means that people who depend on government programs such as food stamps could potentially get that taken away. These people need food stamps in order to survive with that possibly being taken away there is no chance for these people to survive. I think that the government is being very selfish. No matter the disagreements between the two parties the government should be willing to compromise with each other and they should be able to come up with a solution that will satisfy both parties. This shutdown effects everyone that lives in this country and instead of being stubborn the government should be trying to come up with a solution.
