Maybe Doc was on to something (Back to the Future reference)

1. Fuel From Landfill Methane Goes on Sale

4. Content: Using organic compost from landfill as a renewable fuel source.
5. Importance: Clean and renewable fuel is something everyone needs to continue to work towards.
6. I personally really like this approach of using organic waste products to capture methane that it produces for fuel. As the article states, the bi-product of burned methane is less damaging to our environment than carbon while the actual methane itself is more harmful. Also it is said to be cheaper than diesel and 90% cleaner burning, so for shipping and freight companies, this could be a huge step that in a sense would pay for itself in fuel savings. The fact that diesel is cheaper to produce than gasoline, but quite a bit more expensive is already ridiculous, but that is a different topic of discussion in itself. I think it is really interesting to see the different advances that people and companies are coming up with in regards to cleaner, renewable fuel sources, but at the same time, I think all the different ideas are somewhat of a hindrance as well. Society as a whole likes uniformity and convenience. With so many options and new technologies, it is a little overwhelming sometimes and requires that people step outside of their comfort zones in regards to their daily routines. Overall, people will adapt, and I personally predict that electric vehicles will be the most common choice for daily commuters. It probably won't be a huge deal, but that industry has been feeling some growing pains and probably will continue to. It will be interesting to see how the world of transportation evolves through my lifetime.
