4. Article Concerns: L.A. schools initiating iPad program and the scrutiny John Deasy is facing.
5. Importance/affect on families/individuals: The iPad program would help engage students in the classroom and would be an effective up to date way of teaching.
6. Personal views: With the reliance and advancement of technology that surrounds us it is hard to not be so indulged in it. Technology is a very big important aspect of Gen Y and Z. I can see how Superintendent John Deasy believes that by providing each student with a an iPad would be an effective way of teaching. However, as mentioned in the article, several problems that concern people is the amount of money that was used to fund this program ($1 million), students stealing/ not taking care of the ipad, and the question that concerns everyone "is the software program worth it". I see both sides to this issue. I do think it is a good idea because not all students learn the same way. Some are visual learners, tactile learners, and others can just simply listen to a lecture and retain the information. By providing these ipads to the students it would help those who are visual learners gain a better understanding of a concept or problem. It can be effective, however, since kids are exposed to technology with their phones, lap tops, tablets, tv etc. they are constantly straining their eyes and fixating themselves on a screen which in turn has effects on insight and more. Not only that but making sure each ipad is accounted for and in good condition is one more thing to have to worry about and can cost much more in the long run.
