Level: State
Concerning: An “enacted” policy that has been passed
to help with a problem/issue that individuals/families face
Category: Immigration/State Law
This affects families and individuals because it
changes who will be on the roadways in California and across the United States
My Views: I think that this law is ridiculous. I can’t seem
to wrap my head around why government officials will knowingly allow illegal
immigrants to be set free on the roadways. Immigration is a touchy subject but isn’t
the government trying to stop illegal immigrants from coming into the United
States and sending them back to their native country if they are caught? They
are of course working in the United States illegally and their employers are
breaking the law if they are employing them also, so why would they pass a law
allowing them to have driver’s licenses? Does the passing of this bill mean that if
they immigrant were to get pulled over they won’t be able to get arrested for
the fact that they are living here illegally? It just doesn’t make sense to me
at all. It is of course good for the immigrants to better make a living for
their families but I feel like the law goes against everything that they are
working towards on the border. The word illegal is even in the terminology for
the individuals so why the government would allow them to have a drivers license
bewilders me.
