Texas uses compounding pharmacy to replenish supply of execution drug

3. Level: State
4. This article concerns: The state of
Texas replenishing its execution drug supply by a compounding pharmacy because
of expired drugs.
5. This article concerns
families/individuals: The United States has one of the highest incarceration
rates in the world and Texas is one of a couple states that still implements
the death penalty. For us to lower this number instead of keeping more in
prison, the death penalty is an option.
6. I feel the use of the death penalty
is a good resource to use for inmates given the death penalty and instead of
living out a life sentence in a prison where the state or people in it are
paying taxes to keep those men, who made their choice, alive. The state of
Texas had an issue with the drugs they were using being expired so they needed Pentobarbital
made to replenish the old supply. They didn’t have a current supplier so it was
thought that the executions would have to be put on hold.
