City of Austin enacts nonresident fees for pools, rec centers

2.      Category: Fees
3.      Level: Local
4.      A potential policy that is being considered to help a problem/issue that individuals/families face
5.      Importance on families/individuals: The city of Austin have increased their prices for public parks and recreational facilities. If people are not residents of Austin, it will cost even more.
6.      My input: I really don’t think it’s that big of a deal to raise the costs just a dollar but at the same time it’s kind of expensive for something that is in a public place. For large families it will be very expensive to have a day at the pool. It does bring in a lot more money per year for the city though ($280,000!). I do think it’s cool they follow the honor code but it’s hard to tell that people are being honest. But then again it’s only a dollar.
