Category of problem: Immigration
Level of problem: State
This article is concerning an enacted policy that has been
passed to help illegal immigrants and their families with a problem/issue.
This affects individuals/families because with the passing
of this bill allows for illegal immigrants to obtain a driver’s license therefore
it’s an incentive for entering the U.S. and not having to be a legal resident.
My views on this
issue/policy: The U.S. is too lax on immigration laws. Illegal immigrants are
freely yet sneakily allowed into the U.S. with very minimal deportations and
now states are allowing them to obtain a driver’s license. The bill states that
it may be used for driving not as federal identification. I feel that with a
driver’s license comes legal residency of that state. And a few months ago, an
immigration bill was on the agenda to strengthen borders and border patrol to
minimize immigrants coming across. But also to grant millions of illegal
immigrants, already in the U.S, legal status but they would have to pay a fine
and other fees and maintain a job. Well the economy is already steadily
declining with current citizens fighting for job security so the likely hood
that legalized immigrants would immediately find work is unlikely. Allowing
them to obtain a driver’s license is only going to increase the likelihood of
more illegal immigrants coming into the U.S.
